Certificate II – Rural Operations-Live stock and skills (ACH21216)

This qualification provides students with the skills and knowledge to carry out routine tasks under general supervision in rural industries or regional sectors such as local government, transport, and construction.

Students need to complete a total number of 15 units (competencies) over two years to attain the certificate. There are three core units (AHCWHS201 Participate in work health and safety processes, AHCWRK204 Work effectively in the industry and AHCWRK209 Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices) that are compulsory. Some of the other 12 competencies we are delivering are monitor water supplies, prepare livestock for competition, install maintain and repair fencing, observe and report on weather, muster and move livestock, provide feed for livestock, assist in artificial insemination procedures, assist in preparing for shearing and crutching, identify and mark livestock, handle livestock using basic techniques and load and unload livestock.

This subject is predominately practical (hands on) but theoretical tasks and tests are a requirement of the course.
