Trade Training Centre

The Trade Training Centre (TTC) is a large, modern facility fully equipped with machines and tools, to the envy of many commercial workshops.

Our goal at the Trade Training Centre is to deliver training that focuses on;

  • A solid understanding of the basics
  • Correct use of tools and equipment
  • The development of strong welding skills
  • Progression to designing and creating projects independently using the latest techniques and machines.

Safety is an emphasis at all levels. Our other goals are to encourage individual responsibility, mature behaviour, and a self-motivated independent work ethic.

The Engineering qualification is delivered as a self-paced program, combining online learning and direct one-on-one instruction by the trainers. The students work through the series of tasks on the ‘Pathway Chart’ developing skills and knowledge at their own pace. Students do not progress until they have mastered the task at hand. Students who stay focused and work consistently achieve the qualification sooner or have more time for their individual projects.

Students can enter the program in Year 10, 11, or 12. Year 12 students are allocated more time to complete the qualification. We have a very high qualification completion rate, and the student satisfaction survey comments are very positive. Many of our students have gone on to pursue further trade qualifications, studying engineering at university, in the Armed Forces, in the mining industry, or through local employment.
