NAIDOC Week 

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

The themes for 2023 is ‘For Our Elders’.

The Cultural Committee organise a range of activities to celebrate and acknowledge NAIDOC Week within our school community each year, which include:

  • Classroom activities focused on the annual NAIDOC theme
  • Whole college assembly
  • Face painting
  • Basketball tournament MBCC vs ASHS
  • Damper in the quad
  • Rock painting
  • Didgeridoo carving and painting
  • Aboriginal attendance reward BBQ
  • Noongar food tasting
  • Red, black and yellow free dress day
  • Student art competition

Harmony Week 

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate multiculturalism within our school community. The celebrations are about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians. Our celebrations and activities introduce our students to cultures and foods in an interactive and educational way. Some of our lessons and activities have included:

  • Multicultural lunch
  • Face painting
  • Dress up day fashion parade
  • Scottish dancing
