College Board

Mount Barker Community College Board works with our school community to achieve the best outcomes for our students. Our Board seeks to be representative of the school community, ensuring that elected parent representatives span the college year groups. The Board also includes MBCC staff and co-opted community members.

It plays an important role in contributing to good school governance so that school resources are used efficiently, and community expectations and the school’s priorities reflect the needs of students.

The functions of the Board are covered by legislation and include both approval and advisory roles. Some of the matters our Board may make decisions on include fees and charges, book lists, sponsorship, and dress codes. The Board makes these decisions with the Principal who ensures the decisions adhere to legislative and policy requirements. Principals also seek the advice of the board so as to understand local community views.

Board meetings occur on Tuesdays, once per term, commencing from 3:45 pm to 5:00 pm with additional meetings arranged where needed. All meetings can be attended by any members of the public as observers but may be asked to leave if voting needs to occur or decisions made.
